Citroen car keys
Introduction
All vehicles built since 1995 have a transponder immobilizer chip intergrated into the engine management system. This means the vehicle will not start without the Citroen key being programmed. The Citroen immobilizer systems consist of 4 different types. They all perform various functions, and it is important to understand the basic configuration and the types of systems fitted.
Security Card
The information on the security card is essential for us to make and programme a key. Firstly, we would need the key number – this allows us to cut the specific key which fits you vehicle’s locks and ignition. We would then be able to gain access to the vehicle in order for us to programme the transponder chip within the key to the car’s engine control unit ECU) or engine management system (EMS). The security code is individual to each vehicle and consists of 4 digits. With these codes we are able to make transponder keys and fobs and programme new key fobs and keys. We also reprogram existing Citroen keys and transponders as well as remote fobs. We are the Citroen car locksmiths in London. We can programme and reprogram Citroen key fobs and transponder keys the same as any Citroen approved garages in London.
Islington Locksmiths offer replacement Citroen remote key fobs as well as non remote transponder keys. We have Citroen Picasso car key fobs and Citroen C5 remote key fobs. Islington Locksmiths also have a replacement remote key for Citroen C5, and can reprogram Citroen Xsara Picasso keys.
Non Transponder keys
Citroen vehicles pre 1994 do not have transponder chips in them. The models are Citroen: AX 1994ZX 1995-97/Saxco 1996, Standard key no transponder. Citroen Xantia/XM 1998, Simplex cruciform key no transponder. We are able to supply and cut keys for all these Citroen vehicles. Citroen Berlingo/Evasion/Jumpy 1998. Simplex cruciform keys also have no transponder.
Transponder keys
Islington Locksmiths supply and programme Citroen C2/C3 flick key with 2 button remote control and the Citroen C4 Flip Key with 3 button remote control.
Transponder Chip ID
Citroen Berlingo, Xsara and Picasso 2000-2002 2 Button Remote Control are available. Also available are Citroen Van Keys such as Citroen Berlingo 1995-2000 transponder key, Philips fixed 1D33.
We programme Citroen keys at any location in the London and South East area including Citroen: Saxo from 1998 2 Button Remote Control and Citroen: Xsara and Xantia from 1998 Remote.
The following Citroen vehicles have an ID33 transponder chip in the key; Citroen: Evasion 1996 Jumpy 1998 Peugeot: 806 1998 Partner all have Transponder key Philips fixed ID33. The Citroen Jumper 1996 – 1999, Peugeot Boxer 1998/older, have Megamos fixed ID13.
Citroen: Berlingo, Xsara and Picasso 2000-2002 all have a 2 Button Remote Control. The Citroen Xsara 2001-06/Picasso 2000-06/5 2001-05/Berlingo 2001-02, Peugeot Boxer 2003/recent transponder key, all have a Philips crypto 2 ID46.

IMM- Standard immobliser
This system was the first transponder system fitted to the Citroen range of vehicles after the keypad system was phased out. The system is a basic electronic control unit which consists of immobilizer unit and transponder aerial to pick up the transponder code. The system is similar to the GM immobilizer system, and is programmed and diagnosed in the same way. The IMM immobilizer features in Early models of Citroen, from 1995 to 1997, such as Saxo, Xantia and Picasso, as well as early models of the Citroen Berlingo and Jumper.
CPH – Passenger Compartment Protection Control Unit
This is the next generation of immobiliser and alarm system is the CPH system which controls a number of additional components that further enhance the vehicles protection system.
BSI – Body Systems interface and CAN – Controller Area Network.
These are the latest systems with the alarm and immobilisers now being incorporated into the body control unit.
Transponders Car Keys
A big change to the car industry in recent times has been the introduction of the built in immobilise system on all cars manufactured since 1995. This involves placing a chip in the head of the key, which is a little transmitter and receiver. There is an engine management system in the engine compartment that recognise the signals sent from the key. If the correct signals (remote code) are not detected the engine will not start.
An electronic chip with a permanent memory which contains an electronic code. The transponder has an antenna with which it can interface with an external electronic control device.
Through the antenna the device emits a fixed frequency signal; the transponder receives the signal and then transmits its electronic code, by means of special frequency modulations, to the control device, which is able to process the code.
The transponder has no external input of power supply; it receives the energy necessary to work from the signal emitted by the external control device (inductive coupling between the control device antenna and that of the transponder).
